STAR FOR A NIGHT (2003)

Star for a Night was a Philippine singing contest produced by Viva Television and broadcast by IBC from March 31, 2002 to March 1, 2003. The host was the Asia’s Songbird Regine Velasquez.

It is best remembered for the performances of Sarah Geronimo, who at the age of fourteen won the competition, including a 1 million cash prize and a managerial contract with Boss Vic del Rosario owner of the Viva Group of Companies.

 

SARAH: THE TEEN PRINCESS (2004)

Sarah The Teen Princess is a Philippine television musical drama that aired on ABS-CBN from March 1, 2004 to October 22, 2004.

It was Sarah Geronimo’s very first lead role in a teleserye after she won the TV singing competition Star for a Night. She was then paired with another Star for a Night alumnus, Mark Bautista.

LITTLE BIG STAR (2005-2007)

Little Big Star is a singing contest aired every Saturday afternoon on ABS-CBN in the Philippines and internationally on The Filipino Channel. The show was hosted by a Filipina singer and actress Sarah Geronimo. The series premiered on Saturday, September 24, 2005 to February 3, 2007 The show features aspiring young singers who battle it out each week to become the next Little Big Star.

The “Little Big Star” competition is divided into two “divisions;” the Little Division for contestants ages 6 to 9 years old and the Big Division with contestants ages 10 to 13 years old.

MAALAALA MO KAYA: KWINTAS (2006)

Maalaala Mo Kaya or MMK is a Philippine drama anthology series broadcast on ABS-CBN every Saturday evenings and is hosted by Charo Santos-Concio. It has become the longest-running drama anthology in Philippine television and in the world.

The Kwintas episode aired on September 8, 2006. The simple love story unfolds with Jayson (John Lloyd Cruz), a handsome employee of a huge supermarket. Because of his good looks Jayson can have almost every woman he wants. He has had a string of girlfriends but has not taken his relationships with them seriously. Probably because of the trauma he felt when his mom abandoned their family, leaving them for another man. But then he comes across Rose (Sarah Geronimo), a co-employee at the grocery. Though she’s not his usual type, the young promo girl’s free spirit immediately appeals to him. Perhaps her aloofness towards his charms has him attracted to her. Then one fateful day, Jayson finds himself being rescued by Rose during a robbery at the supermarket. He realizes that he has begun having real feelings for her. BITUING WALANG NINGNING (2006)

Bituing Walang Ningning is a 2006 Philippine television drama aired on ABS-CBN from May 15 to October 6, 2006. For most of its run, the soap opera was the network’s highest rating show in primetime. (source: Wikipedia)

It was derived from the serialised comic strip by Nerissa Cabral that was also adapted into a movie in 1985 with Sharon Cuneta portraying Dorina and Cherie Gil as Lavinia Arguelles.

In the TV series, Sarah Geronimo played Dorina and Angelika dela Cruz portrayed the antagonist Lavinia. Other cast include Zsa Zsa Padilla, Amy Austria, Tonton Gutierrez, Ryan Agoncillo, John Prats, Carlo Aquino, and Ai-Ai delas Alas.

PANGARAP NA BITUIN (2007)

Pangarap na Bituin is a 2007 Philippine musical romantic-drama television series produced by ABS-CBN that aired from September 3 to December 7, 2007 with a total of 70 episodes. Directed by Erick C. Salud and Trina N. Dayrit, it stars Sarah Geronimo, Rica Peralejo, Maja Salvador, Nikki Gil, and Jericho Rosales.

The Jewel Sisters, a singing pop trio who will walk the royal yet sometimes rocky road to fame. After the tragedy that left their biological parents seemed dead, Sapphire, Emerald, and Ruby are accidentally separated from one another. But one dream will make their paths cross, and together, they will make music that fans all over the country will deeply adore.

At first, they will all think that their love for one another as sisters will see them through the challenging life as celebrities. But little did they know that there is more to dream than the wealth and glory. Sapphire is willing to do whatever it takes to get ahead and be with Terrence Rodriguez. Emerald falls in love with Terrence, but the manipulative manager Alberta will stand against their love. But, Emerald and Terrence secretly became boyfriend and girlfriend without anyone knowing except for Cocoy, adoptive father of Emerald. Ruby will battle with her own insecurities to gain the self-esteem she needs.

During the last episode, Bridgette Ramirez revealed the real Sapphire Gomez and the real Mother of the Jewel Sisters. Also, Bridgette now knows that her father died because of Lena, the impostor mother of the three. After the incidents, the Jewel Sisters are together with their Mother Jade Gomez, planned to have a concert. And this concert is the happiest moments together as a family and Ruby and Jeffrey became boyfriend and girlfriend, while Alberta Tuazon apologize to her husband and they live happily ever after.

MAALAALA MO KAYA: DOLL HOUSE (2008)

Sarah’s second MMK episode was entitled “Doll House.”

She portrayed Marie. Marie came from a broken family. Her parents separated when her mother found out that her father had an affair with another woman. She, her mother Lucing and her elder brother, Marko moved out from their house and started living in rented houses. Despite the situation, she was living a comfortable life – she was enrolled in an exclusive school and had what she needed, not knowing that her mother was having a hard time at work already. They started moving to different places – from a fully furnished house, to more cramped studio-type apartments, dealing with annoying landladies and landlords, fraternity riots in the neighborhood, drug addicts, and were even threatened to be thrown out of the house many times.

Her mother tried to shoulder the financial weight for the house rentals and their tuition. Soon, Marko moved out to live with their grandmother since he couldn’t afford to live with them anymore. Marie was about to give up her studies when her mother pawned the only property they had – their house and lot in the province. Eventually, she was able to finish her studies. Amidst her family’s struggle with finding home, Marie realized the greatest lesson life gave her – that a house is not a home if they would not stick together as a family.

POPSTAR DIARIES (2009-PRESENT)

Popstar Diaries is a television show in the Philippines Viva TV with a slogan “It’s the Pop Princess uncovered”. Originally, it is a program shown at Pinoy Box Office channel since 2009.

The show focuses on the professional life of Philippines Popstar Royalty Sarah Geronimo.

The show debuted on July 16, 2012 on Viva TV when Viva Television revived Viva TV on the air. After a 9-year hiatus, the channel was relaunched as the new 24 hour all-Filipino general Entertainment channel on Cable and Satellite, along with the launch of new programming except Popstar Diaries which is the only Viva produced program since 2009 from Pinoy Box Office channel.

1DOL (2010)

1DOL was a Filipino musical comedy-drama series that aired on ABS-CBN’s primetime block from September 6 to October 22, 2010. It starred Sarah Geronimo, Sam Milby and Coco Martin as the lead characters.

Sarah plays the role of Belinda. Belinda’s on her way to becoming the next singing idol. When her parents Samson and Laura have incurred twenty million pesos worth of debt to a family friend, she was suddenly forced to leave her showbiz life behind. They have no choice but to run for their lives or else they would land in jail with no one to help them out. But in the process, Belinda not only loses her chance to make it big but she also walks away from Vince, her childhood friend whom she secretly loves. When her family moves to a remote province did Belinda meet Lando who instantly falls in love with her.

SARAH G. LIVE! (2012-2013)

Sarah G Live! was an evening musical show in the Philippines hosted by Sarah Geronimo. It is co-hosted by Luis Manzano, debuting on February 26, 2012. It airs Sunday nights on ABS-CBN. It features different segments showcasing Geronimo’s singing and dancing capabilities. The show ended on February 10, 2013.

The Voice of the Philippines is a Filipino reality television singing competition on ABS-CBN. It is based on the reality singing competition The Voice of Holland, which was originally created by Dutch television producer John de Mol as part of The Voice franchise. Toni Gonzaga has been hosting the show since the first season; on the other hand, Luis Manzano, who had crossovered from The Voice Kids, had hosted the show since the second season. Both are accompanied by Robi Domingo and Alex Gonzaga who serves as the show’s V-Reporters or the social media and backstage correspondents. Sarah Geronimo, Bamboo Mañalac, Lea Salonga, and apl.de.ap serve as the four coaches and the judging panel of the show.

ASAP (All-Star Sunday Afternoon Party) is the longest-running musical variety show in the Philippines shown on ABS-CBN.

Sarah Geronimo became a regular ASAP performer since 2004 and is still one of the most-awaited host/performer in the show until now.
